KHIRY featured in Vogue Italia story " Black Nonsense," September 2020
September 16, 2020
KHIRY featured in Vogue Italia September editorial "Black Nonsense" by photographer and filmmaker Tyler Mitchell and playwright Jeremy O. Harris.
From the editorial: "Inspired by the Dadaists of the early 20th century and thanks to thinkers like Arthur Jafa and Tina Campt, ‘Black Nonsense’ is the very simple notion that nonsense in images could be a portal to joy. Mitchell also hand picked and invited a small group of contributing Black image makers to create new works that would become a part of the portfolio as a way of destabilizing the typical 'single photographer' ownership over a project. Words by Jeremy O. Harris play in tandem and against the images throughout in a freeform essay that beckons the viewer into increasingly surreal pockets of thought."
Congratulations to Jeremy O. Harris for a receiving a record 12 Tony nominations for Slave Play!
