Leading up to fashion week, it’s such a pleasure to have a moment of connection with the Black legends who both made space for me, and inspired me to want to make a name in this industry. As a Black designer and entrepreneur it’s easy to feel like your position is marginal, almost an alternative part of the industry. But these images and Jason Campbell’s accompanying story for the debut issue of The Cut with Lindsay Peoples Wagner as Editor in Chief, reminds me that we have long had a central role in this space, offering perpetual glimpses of equitable possibilities. We have been Western fashion’s most critical modernizing force. Beyond honored to have the absolute tour de force, Pat Cleveland, here with Debra Shaw in KHIRY Jug Drops in Sterling Silver.
